About me:

My earliest memory of creating was inspired by the Channel 4 television show Scrapheap Challenge. From the age of four I would be glued to the show every Sunday, with my mother even taping shows if I missed them.

As years went by my passion for making things turned from cardboard and paper mache, to carpentry, robotics and then onwards to metalwork. I purchased my first MIG welder at 13 and set to making and designing things from metal.

I decided to pursue a materials science degree due to an ornate curiosity to understand the microstructure and behavioral properties of materials. I was bought the book “Material Matters” for Christmas aged 17, which lead me to the discovery of the materials science degree.

Although I already had a passion for design and making things, I decided to pursue a materials science degree to broaden my knowledge and experience. I became passionate about sustainability and the environment as I spend so much time out in nature for my hobbies and pursuits. I discovered the circular economy when I was given the book “Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things” by William McDonough. Since then I have become very passionate about the switch from the linear economy to the circular economy using new methods and technologies.

Aside from my passion for design, I am a very keen outdoors enthusiast. I have been riding and racing mountain bikes since I was 14, spending summers in both Queenstown, New Zealand and Morzine, France. When I am not on the bike, I enjoy spending winters surfing and skiing. Spending the last 5 years in Swansea I spent the winters surfing a lot and staying out of the rain!

I am interested in the sectors of design, sustainability and materials.
